The Ale House was much better than anticipated. We got there just before happy hour ended, so we were able to get a couple Breckenridge beers for $3 (although not huge fans of Breckenridge) and a quesadilla on happy hour. This quesadilla was very, very good. It was deep fried and had a sriarcha dipping sauce. Definitely recommend getting this. I ordered the texmex salad with skirt steak for dinner. I swapped out the avocado for some extra sour cream (can't do the avocado!! Personal issue...) and got the southwest style ranch salad dressing on the side. It was a great salad! My boyfriend ordered the 50/50 burger which it half bacon half burger. He said it was delicious. We toyed around with the idea of getting dessert, but were both stuffed. We settled on a cider to finish off the night. Just wish it were a different brewery represented than Breckenridge. Nothing personal, just not a favorite!

When you arrive in grand junction you are impressed by the scenery and less impressed with your immediate accommodation offerings. Thank Moses for Yelp. Enter Ale House. This place was jumping! Absolutely packed on a Saturday night. Totally a place you'd want to hang with adult friends and spouses etc. Not so good for kids as the patrons were tipsy and very loud in their use of strings of expletives. The food was solid, the carbonara mac and cheese was very good, as was the French dip, and I ordered the chicken skewers and side salad and was Dupri sedan how fresh and delicious each were. Solid fun place for a meal and night on the town [in Grand Junctiom]

Beer was good and the menu was full of good options. Got the fish tacos and my dad got the elk meatloaf. Neither was amazing but both were good and the price was reasonable

Great experience once again at the Ale House. The nice gal at the bar did a great job, starting me off with a happy hour special of Full Sail Cascade Pilsner. Ordered the Ahi Tuna wrap which was prepared just perfectly. Great taste going with cucumber, ginger, wasabi-red pepper ranch sauce. Very light but just the perfect amount for a Dallas traveler. I finished off my dinner with a Summerbright Ale. Very nice summer brew with a hint of lemon and orange. Overall my experience was excellent.

The Ale House has great service and excellent food. Our issue is that we sat outside on the huge and beautiful outdoor patio. Our meal was ruined by people smoking at their tables. I am allergic to smoke and was miserable with allergy symptoms throughout our entire meal. We were shocked that they allowed smoking in their establishment, especially in Colorado where most places do not. For this reason, I'll never go back and go instead to one of their competitors down the road where smoking is not allowed.

The spinach salad I had was delicious. I added grilled chicken...great spot to go to after you hike the national monument!!!

The Ale House was very nice. Being a person who does not normally drink beer, I was able to find a beer on tap that I really enjoyed (Breckinridge Agave Wheat). We're from out of town and knew nothing about the area. The bartender on duty, Dustin, was extremely nice and knowledgable not only about their beers and menu but gave us insight about what to do around town. I had the Elk Meatloaf. Being from Texas, elk is not something on the menu. It was actually very good! I would recommend it! This bar has live music during the weeknights and weekend nights. It was very clean and nicely set up. Definitely a place we're going back to this week!

Believe the reviews which explain this to be a mediocre place. I ate the Salmon Burger with Sweet Potato Fries. The bartender suggested this meal of the two I was most interested. In her opinion it is unique and one of The Ale House's signature dishes. It most definitely was not worth the $11.50 price. I also had the beer sampler, which is pre selected from the Breckenridge Brewery taps. The atmosphere inside is similar to an Applebees or Chilis. The service was preoccupied with larger tables. I should have trusted the "Meh" responses posted but I also asked the hotel staff where Im staying and they recommended the Ale House. I do not. Im sure there are more authentically local, fun, and better priced for the quality of food places.

Ian waited on us and was prompt and polite ! Love it when employees like what they do ! Had an apricot blonde - delicious, ordered chix pot pie and 50/50 burger - all very delicious. Then we topped it off with mud pie - whoa, pace yourself with dinner if you want this sweet item, it's HUGE ! Again - great service and great atmosphere ! Highly recommend and we'll be back !!

The ambience is that of a typical high priced brew pub. The food was good. The service was ok. The noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation. A glass of beer was way too expensive.

Ate there last night and was good. Our waitress Kelsey was fantastic!!!! I had the ahi tuna wrap. Super yummy except for the ginger in it, but I pulled that out. Beer is always good. After dinner we sat outside and the staff was super friendly. The atmosphere was super chill and comforting, best back patio ever. All they need is a gas fireplace and it would be perfect.

Mostly a bar for college kids, but came here to watch the Thursday night football game. The big TV in front of the bar is in bad condition and is not bright enough. If you sit at the "head" of the bar and want to watch the TV, you will need to turn your head one way or the other. The food I ordered was pretty average too. None of the flavors or construction of the shrimp tacos worked well. It was overloaded with cabbage, a weird tartar sauce and a bunch of blackberry salsa that did not taste good. They did put alot of shrimp and the sweet potato fries were salty and not much flavor. Might be a good place to do appetizers and drink.

I tried the bison burger meal tonight. It was very juicy but next time I'll go for medium well or well done. The coleslaw was delicious and service was great. Nice staff very helpful with recommendations. The agave wheat beer was a mix between blue moon and a corona very crisp. Definitely worth checking out.

Ups: Good food, good service, good beer. Down: Our booth seats had not been wiped down so there were still leftover crumbs from the previous customers; and as the designated driver for the evening, I was disappointed there weren't more non-alcoholic fun drinks offered (virgin dacquiri was as wild as it got). The 50/50 burger was hearty and juicy - definitely one of the better burgers out there with the fried egg. The onion jam was an innovative touch with a pleasant aftertaste. The generously-sized sherry spinach salad was simple, but all the ingredients complemented each other nicely and the vinaigrette pulled it together. Overall we thought the Ale House served pretty good food for a bar. The interior is pretty large, and they have a patio as well. The bar is in the very middle and wraps around. The layout made it seem like a good place for groups. Prices were as expected. Location is at the end of a strip mall with shared paved parking, and it's not in downtown.

At lunch here while we were visiting Grand Junction. We really loved the Nitro Vanilla Porter & Avalanche beers a lot. (We were lucky enough to make it for $3 beers at Happy Hour!) I got the spinach salad with chicken... It was okay. Was too light on the toppings for me. But, we also had the artichoke dip, patty melt, and sweet potato fries all of which were very good. Would eat there again. Great service and experience. Can get quite loud though.

Always the worst service. Food is okay, but the service is horrible. Sat us outside and waited 20 minutes and no one ever came out with water even. We came in and git re-sat and still no one came to us for awhile. Then when we ordered the server acted as if we were an inconvenience to her. All i asked for was some tabasco.

No service + no food + no beer = 0 stars, but I got a water, so there's your star. Maybe it's protocol to wait more than 15 minutes at the bar here, but I was hungry. I think I would like Breck's beer better if their restaurants weren't so awful (I've been to the one on Blake also). I mean, it's one thing to run a shitty restaurant, but keep your name off of it if you want to sell something else independently. Maybe that's why this place doesn't actually have the name in it. Skip this one.

The food was just barely warm. Service was horrible. She complained about where her tables were in the restaurant and said she could take our order if we hurried, she had other drinks to grab. We visited at an off time and there were maybe 6-8 tables with people. She never checked on us after the food arrived. Then complained again when clearing the plates because we would hand her our plates. When the checks arrive she practically threw the check at us.

An absolute MUST whenever I'm rolling through town on I-70...even if I can only stop for a quick beer. The Ale House has everything you want: Fantastic service, great food, a fabulous beer selection, huge tvs showing a variety of channels, live music, a light, comfy atmosphere, big bar in the middle and a great porch & outside area with misters for the hot days! I have to be honest, I wish there was an Ale House in Denver! I recommend just about everything - i've never been disappointed, and if you're curious about a drink, just ask for a sample! They'll be happy to hook you up.

Wow. This place looked so promising! The atmosphere is cool and the drink menu looked good. I had a Mai Tai that was pretty good and the hubby ordered the ($16 wth) margarita. He was able to select the tequila, but the drink itself was super acidic and didn't taste like there was much booze in it at all. Why $16??? Moving on, the menu is all over the place with random items that just don't really jive. I couldn't find anything that really jumped out at me so we settled on splitting your basic nachos. While we wait for our food, we notice the bartender eating her dinner. I don't know about you, but I just sort of feel like that should not be happening at this type of establishment. A hole in the wall, ok, but not here. It was gross to watch her eat her food, not wash her hands and continue to serve drinks. Come on..find someone to fill in for you so you can take an appropriate break. Meanwhile, because she's eating she doesn't check on us at all. My husband doesn't care for his drink and wants to order a beer, but he'll have to wait. Our food arrives, it's a big plate of basic nachos: chips, cheese, beans, chicken, green onions.. Hard to screw up. The chicken was good, the rest was greasy and lifeless. Remember, my hubby is still waiting for a drink. At this place they have another server bring the food out - the bartender is still ignoring us. Finally my husband says, excuse me! Super loud and she came over and he was polite and asked for a beer. After that we decided it was time to get the check or we were going to be there for another 30 mins just waiting on her to finish eating or flirting with other male servers. At one point we watched her feed one of her male coworkers. Again, this is why you have subpar reviews! This place has so much potential, but we will never be back.

We came here while during our first stop for college tours. My daughter is the burger lover and I had her select a location via Yelp. We were famished, so at this point peanut butter and jelly would have been amazing. The place was pretty empty when we got there. It was probably not the best burger I have ever eaten, but I was hungry so it did get eaten. Although it was overcooked and dry. However, our young server (I feel bad because his name slips my mind) was great and did an amazing job with our table service. Food....eh, well, do you see a photo of yumminess?

Great beer selection, and I love that it's not just Breckenridge, but other great CO beers. However, I was disappointed to see such a lack of vegetarian options. Great service, but I'd love to see more veggie options.

For a brew pub definitely 5 stars. Outstanding service. Fantastic beer at good price. We had artichoke dip which we had with pita instead of crackers. Delicious. Cheeseburger worthy of eating without the bun. Teriyaki skewers were great. We shared the caramel pie. A bit too sweet but super unique. Great menu options. Would eat here again if we travel thru again.

First time there! I was able to walk in and sit at the bar. I was immediately greeted and was given info about the restaurant. I ended up having the bison burger ( 3 out of 5). I did have the Aguave Wheat which was really good. This beer is brewed by Breckenridge Brewery and they thad all of theirs on tap.

Bison burger...ok, goat cheese too strong for me and huge. In general was ok, but the smoked extra spicy wings got me hooked. It's smoky but not over powering, spicy but don't taste chemical factors and a surprising sweetness from the meat itself.... (but still spicy), if you are wing person and like spicy, you should give it a try. Awesome!

I've never had anything to eat here that I thought was memorable. The food is okay. I ordered a margarita once and it was the worst I've ever had. I do like the atmosphere and they have a great beer selection. So I recommend it as a good place to drink beer but that's it.

Good traditional american food with a huge selection of on tap brews. They have a late night bar menu so if you're in the mood to go out and eat after 10 this gives you a good option. Burgers are good, french onion soup is good, and they make a chocolate volcano cake for dessert that ya gotta try.

To be fair, i was here for a work lunch, so did not try the beer, which I think would be an important aspect to a review of this place. However, the food was great- had a very satisfying bleu cheese burger. There is an extremely relaxing lawn/patio area where you can sit and relax with a nice beer. I really want to do this in the future. I will be back to be here at night! Most of the 4 stars comes from the relaxing atmosphere in their outdoor seating :).

I thoroughly enjoyed myself at The Ale House. I'll definitely return. First off, they have like 34 frickin' beers on tap. Most of them are (admirably) Colorado beers. My Dark Winter Wheats from Palisade were incredible :-) . Their menu is diverse. Many choices in the spectrum from healthy to comfort food. There were so many enticing options, I had to ask the server to help me out. I went with healthy... the soup and salad were delicious. They stay open, and serve food late, which is important and refreshing considering most places close up shop around 9. They also had a duo playing a tasteful selection of rock/pop acoustic music if you dig that sort of thing. I recommend you try this place if you're a beer lover. That's just like, uhh, my opinion man, but you can do much worse.

Came here two nights in a row- pretty decent food - had the red pepper hummus and chicken satay both nights, they were fantastic. Had the artichoke dip, it was pretty decent. Loved the satay chicken though - the peanut sauce really makes it! They had some great brews on tap, lots of variety.... they have a great bar- the service was friendly and awesome. Tash was fabulous and called us honey, sweetie and sugar- felt really down home- love the way all our servers made us feel at home. I liked this place. Had the salmon entree- have it with the pesto. Also had a Cesar and the green chile too. It's a pretty solid place to grab a brew and a few eats- definitely worth checking out in Grand junction. They also had live music on The Monday we were in- definitely a must visit if you're in town.

The fish and chips were really gross. The fish had scaley skin underneath the burnt breading and mysterious hard boney parts throughout. My friend ordered the burger and it came out really pink. He's been puking all the way back to Utah. Not a good place at all.

  • Joshua F.

The quality had really gone down hill. As a regular I have to say I'm extremely disappointed in the menu change and they got rid of the sweet potato chips. Service was very poor tonight and slow. Might have to find a new place to take clients for lunch and dinner.

I have eaten here a couple of times and have not been impressed. My husband ordered a medium rare burger and it was dry with not a lot of flavor. We sat in the back of the restaurant and had to shout to hear each other over the loud house band. The beer was great and I did enjoy my ahi wrap, but we would not go back.

We are visiting from California and our uncle was telling us how great this place is. He was right! All of our food was extremely delicious... even the kids meals! I got the southwest steak salad and it was amazing. All the food was full of flavor. The server was great (didn't catch his name). It was clean and a great ambiance. Will definitely be returning if given the chance

Okay, I'm reviewing this "two-fold" style. First, as a small group sitting at a table. Second as a couple who chose to sit at the bar. Group/Table: Both times I've been to the Ale house as a small group and sat at a table, the food was great, the drinks were great, and the customer service was great. If you like the Breck brewery, you'll love this place. There are also pool tables, tons of TVs (without having a "trashy" feel), and an huge outdoor patio that's lit up by soft lights. I cannot emphasize enough that as a group, this place is fantastic. Couple/Bar: HORRIBLE. This has happened to my fiance and I twice now...we've gone in at about 10pm (they're one of the bars that's actually open late in GF) and sat at the bar for 5-15 minutes without ONE bartender coming to check on us. Seriously. And I am not exaggerating when I say that 1-2 bartenders saw us walk in, sit at the bar, and then proceeded to walk by us numerous times....all the while we are trying to get their attention for a drink. Also, they were NOT busy at the time (maybe 8 people at the bar, and a handful of groups still sitting at tables). The service was so bad both of these times that we ended up leaving and hitting up the liquor store next door (College liquors) and walking home to make homemade beverages. Seriously Ale House, you guys have GOT to do something about your late night bar service. It's currently appalling and it makes me not want to recommend Ale House to tourists or people in town (when I know you have great food and drinks).

This place sucks. They are always out of the the first 6 to 7 beers i try to order. Service is slow and horrible. Last time i went the sever came to our table frequently but ignored me every time. I was served my first beer i ordered but he would not take another order from me the rest of the night even though he kept taking drink orders from the rest of the table. Have no idea what his problem was. Food is always disgusting.

We got stuck for maintenance and of the five locals we asked they all pointed at the Ale House. We were not disappointed. Food was devoured and the craft beers were to brag about. Great setting, highly recommend it.

I want to like Ale House, I really do. And for a while, I did. The food is decent, there are some good drink specials, and the ambience is enjoyable. The service, however, has been consistently terrible for the last year. I scheduled to have an end-of-the-year get-together there for the teachers at my school. I reserved a spot on the patio, but when I arrived, I was told other parties reserved the patio, and since we weren't ordering meals (only tons of drinks and apps), we could just find somewhere to sit. After we found a place on the patio to accoommodate us all, we were moved for another party. At this point, most people either didn't come and went elsewhere or we paid for our drinks and left. This was at 3 p.m., mind you. Shortly after that, some friends and I went to the Ale House for dinner and drinks. The waitress seemed short with us all night and was possibly annoyed that we had separate checks, something that's pretty normal these days. Anyway, my boyfriend and I paid for our portion of the bill and proceeded to leave (our friends were on the back patio smoking and we told this to the waitress). As we were walking out the door, the waitress screamed for a manager and that we were leaving without paying. We were humiliated as none of us have EVER left without paying a bill! We've had plenty of bad service prior to this incident; I remember being at Ale House with a group of co-workers after school, and we were given tons of attitude by one of the hostesses when we simply wanted to sit outside. I don't mean to rant, but I think people, and the business itself, deserve to be informed about its short comings. Hopefully Ale House will work on its service so I can start supporting it again.

The food was good, kids meals were way better though. Beer list (of course was fantastic!). Service absolutely stole the show! Our server was phenomenal! Fun, friendly, thoughtful and knowledgeable!! A great experience, for sure!

  • Leah P.

The Ale House was a fairly underwhelming experience. The space was nice (looks like a pretty new building), and the beers were plentiful, but the food really lacked. I had the sweet potato chips (at the suggestion of other reviews) and found them to be like trying to eat small pieces of steel. I also had a pepper chicken sandwich with guac, which was VERY bland. They have a rotating beer on tap every day that's only $2.50 for a pint, so that was a pretty good deal. The nice bar area and the beer selection makes it a nice watering hole, but I would suggest getting food elsewhere.

News flash, if you ask for a medium rare or rare burger here, they will cook it that way! Why is this news? Because I've ordered medium rare burgers from all sorts of places in town from 626 to Chile's and you always get medium to medium well. How hard is it to cook a burger, or a steak for that matter, to order? I ordered mine rare and it was rare! Oh yeah! They need to replace the biggest TV in the room, the one behind the bar. It looks like crapola.

Yum. Ale house type food. Consistent fresh great beer. Solid ale house. Great burgers. Great brie chicken sandwich. Eaay atmosphere and staff. A solid place to eat out by horizon drive. Loud enough for parents with kids to relax. Quite enough to talk. Cool enough ro hang out in.

We found this place through yelp and even though it had bad reviews for food I wanted to check out some different Breckenridge beers so we chanced it. The reviews are right on and the food is definitely not good but we were hungry and tired after driving 12 hours and we ate most of what we ordered. I guess I should say the food itself wasn't awful it was just off. Everything was cold to lukewarm for starters. We ordered wings and a burger and fries and shared everything. It all came out together which was different and it was all on the cold side. The funny thing was even when the bartender asked us if the food was 'ok' he grimaced like he knew it couldn't be good. hahaha what?? Anyway we ended up with a brown ale, their red and then wanting something sweet we asked the bartender for suggestions and she quickly mixed up a tasty fruity lemonade with strawberry puree. Overall service and beers were great, just eat somewhere else beforehand.

The vanilla porter was the best part of our dinner tonight- but it didn't make up for the stale tortilla chips, pale tasteless salsa and " ahi tuna" tacos. After a 15 minute wait for seating( there were plenty of open tables as we were led to a crowded spot by a private party). How disappointing! To top it off the sweet potato chips are gone- now substituted by cold, listless sweet potato fries. Come on Ale House- get a decent salsa recipe, order chips and REAL tortillas from one of our great local tortillarias and bring back your sweet potato chips!

We were in town for a recruiting visit and found this place via yelp. Fantastic service, the waitress answered all of our questions and was there conveniently when we needed. The food was excellent! We had the mahi mahi fish tacos, green chile chili, and fish and chips. We were very satisfied with all 3 dishes. Definitely recommend this place if you haven't tried it!

Recently moved to Junction and had heard great things about the Ale House. Stopped in yesterday for lunch and say at the bar. I loved everything about this place. Great location and food and incredibly friendly service. I had a chicken sandwich with Brie and sautéed apples, which was quite good and had a Lucky U IPA, which was a nice hoppy IPA. My friend and I are heading back to the Ale House this evening for dinner. This is a really great place, particularly for a town of this size. Highly recommended.

A great place to eat! Very good grilled food! Good cheifs! A nice atmosphere. Awesome pool tables (good felt). My wife tried the buffalo burger here (first time for her to try buffalo) and she is hooked on buffalo meat. She gets buffalo meat all the time from Trader Joes and Vitamin Cottage.

Meh. I only had a limited amount of time in Grand Junction to catch a flight back home. I came to this restaurant to experience a Colorado microbrewery before I headed back to California. Unfortunately Ale House didn't blow me out of the water, but it's not like it was absolutely horrible. I ordered a buffalo burger and their signature IPA. When in Colorado, right? The IPA was good, don't get me wrong, but maybe I expected more out of a Colorado brewery? Isn't that what Colorado is famous for? I can get the same quality at a microbrew in California. Better than the shit that's been sitting in a bottle in the market forever, but not the best beer I've ever had, either. It was hoppy and crisp. Good enough. My burger was a disappointment. I ask for rare, I get medium well. If you're going to cook my burger medium well anyway, why ask me how I want it? Seriously I said to my server I wanted the burger freshly dead. Ugh. Everything else was so plain on it. Whoopie. I'm not even going to touch the subject of a "Cuban" sandwich because I'm Cuban and when I see shit labeled Cuban + added jalapeno (among other non-Cuban ingredients) makes me very angry. My boyfriend ordered the brautwust and said it was good enough. I wish I would have done my research to see if there was better in Grand Junction... For the prices this place charges, the food should be a lot better.

  • Kristina Y.

The server was very friendly. Beer prices are good, wine not so much. The green chili soup was really good. The hummus was ok, could have used a bit more zip for being red pepper hummus. The portion sizes were decent on the chicken fried chicken & the fish -n- chips. The chicken fried chicken was good, but nothing compares to Bull & Bush. The fish was good & not too greasy but not real flavorful. Fries were great.

Stopped in for a quick "flight" and some apps before heading back to Denver. Beers were good but because they are such a large bottler now you can get their beer most anywhere in CO so go for the seasonal or specialty beers if you need a "special" fix. The red pepper hummus and the artichoke dip we had to snack on were both nice beer fodder. I get the vibe that I'm eating/drinking in a big chain type joint here so for me some of the heart of course is missing. The staff was up to snuff though so it's a toss up between 3 and 4 stars for me...

It's no secret that Grand Junction is a little hard pressed for great eateries and bars. My parents moved here about three and a half years ago, and when I come to visit, I am forever in search of the aforementioned. (I am spoiled, living in San Francisco, where you can't throw a rock without hitting a fabulous little place to dine and imbibe.) So the thing is, all things considered, I actually really like the Ale House. For starters, I disagree that the food is underwhelming. It's a decent menu--lots of good standard American and pub grub. I've been to the Ale House about three or four times, and I've never had anything bad. Last night I ordered garlic herb salmon, and it was really good. They also stock a full bar and are known for their beer menu. I am more of a cocktail girl, and there are plenty to be had--from margaritas to standard wells to fancy cocktails. There are big screens around the bar where you can watch the game, if that's your thing. There's also plenty of bar seating, and last winter, I happened in on some really great live music. This is one of the better spots I've found in town, and I like hanging out here. Check it out if you're in the market for some casual dining and/or drinks.

This gets a high rating for the following reasons: 1. Great outside area with Music on Wednesdays and Saturdays. 2. Large section of micro-brews 3. Sweet Potato Chips 4. Ample TV screens in the Bar Area 5. Friday night happy hour place to be for the buzz you crave. 6. 50% off Pizza after 10 pm (late night munchies) Nice menu from Meatloaf to Bratwurst...

On a warm sunny afternoon, or beautiful summer evening, there is no better place to grab a beer than the Ale House Brewery's back deck and yard. I'm a huge fan of the atmosphere out back here, even though I prefer to patronize the downtown establishments over the sprawl. There is a nice selection of house drafts and visiting (including local) breweries. The food is solid; a definite notch above standard Colorado brewpub fare (but, still below the brewpub gastronomic creations one will find in Portland and Seattle.) For vegetarians, I recommend the portobello muffaletta--an excellent sandwich that, whether or not it is, does not scream "obligatory vegetarian offering". The marinated mushroom is itself flavorful; added to the olive and caper muffaletta and swiss, it's a sandwich that I would look forward to having again.

I have always liked the venue here. Open and good for people watching. Bartenders were super friendly. Really enjoyed talking with them. Even though it was very busy, they could still chat a bit. Never waited for a drink. We were there on a Friday night and that seemed to be where everyone was that night! Crowd was on the younger side, 20's maybe early 30's. Fun vibe, would come back!

It was a great place to hang out on the patio and grab a few brews with my buddy! Fantastic bar.

After countless meals here, I feel confident stating that this place is one of the most consistent restaurants in GJT. If you are looking for good food, decent local beers, and a pleasant ambiance, this is the place to come. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly, if sometimes over worked and not as attentive as you might hope. I most highly recommend the following menu items: Southwest Chicken Salad, Greek Chicken (dinner only), and all of the sandwiches/wraps. As for beer, try their taster flights (a new offering!) and make an informed decision before plunging into an entire pint. The Agave wheat, summerbright (seasonal) and Vanilla porter are my favs... their IPAs have too much malt for my taste.

Food - 2/5 Service - 4/5 Atmosphere - 3/5 Price - 3/5 Here for Dinner - Bill was $? co-worker bought. Service was great and honest about what to get and what to avoid. Great beer selection for those that appreciate craft-beer. Mostly local Colorado beers with a lot of Breckenridge on tap. They also offer a full bar. Our server was quite friendly and was willing to share her opinions on the menu after we told her we weren't from around here. She recommended the Chicken Marsala or the Jerk Chicken for entrees. I ordered the Marsala and my coworker ordered the Jerk. The restaurant wasn't very busy, 20% full, and the food came out quick - w/in 20mins of ordering - and a salad before the main. I wasn't expecting the my chicken to be so heavily breaded and the marsala was just poured on top of a rather uninteresting breaded chicken breast. The marsala was weak with little to no real tang you'd expect from the wine in the sauce. The mushrooms were okay, the smashed potatoes were good, the green beans tasted like lighter fluid (??? don't know how you do that) and the meat itself was bland. My suggestion would be to brine the chicken, season the breading (salt is your friend!) and make a fresh marsala daily. The Jerk chicken was nice and flavorful - I'd rather have ordered that.

I love this place! I can't get enough of their menu or beer selection. Service has always been fast & friendly. I highly recommend their Enstrom's Mud Pie for dessert. The garden burrito is huge and can easily be shared by 2 people. They always have a delicious "special" on the board, which is typically what I go with and have not been disappointed one time.

I've avoided this place on all our drives through Grand Junction, mostly because it's "just another Breckenridge Brewery spot"... and well, quite honestly, I find the others all fairly mediocre. Finally decided to give it a shot, and was pretty pleased. I was torn between 3 and 4 starts, the beautiful day and the awesome patio pushed it to the 4. Beer: the usual suspects at Breckenridge Brewery, plus a few others on draft, lots of bottles. Tried a seasonal Breck brew this time (a Belgian Ale), and it was actually quite delicious. Better than their usuals... Food: actually better than both the location in Breck and the one downtown. Nothing super special, but solid and fairly reasonably priced. Service: surprisingly good. Young servers, but super friendly and helpful. Atmosphere: I'd argue the best of the three locations I've visited. Patio is spacious and super nice. In conclusion - definitely a decent option if you're in GJ looking for some brews and patio time... !

Bad service. Was in town for a bachlorette weekend and we went here for dinner. First, the food took a long time to come out, then when it did come out it was cold/luke warm. Two of the six orders were messed up and the waitress blamed it on us! Then it took another 10-15 minutes to get the correct order out and the waitress blamed it on the cooks. She never apologized and didn't take anything off our bill. She was rude and slammed our drinks on the table never saying a word to us. She, actually none of the staff, said congrats to the bride and the bride was clearly wearing a sash indicating it was her bachlorette. It was only a group of 6 women, how hard is it to be polite? Needless to say, I would not go back. Additionally, they do have a big draft beer selection. I got the 471 IPA and was not impressed. For a higher quality beer I expected it to taste like a quality beer. I've had better and cheaper IPAs.

Pleasantly surprised by this establishment. I would give them a higher rating but will reserve that for another visit. The welcoming hostess, friendly atmosphere and courteous wait staff all deserve it, however a couple of flaws out of the kitchen cause hesitation. They were resolved without question, quickly, however it should never have left the kitchen. The meatloaf, mashes potatoes ans gravy was delicious once I was served a fresh plate unlike the first that had hard corners. Not dry or a little over done but knife knocking hard like a rock. The vegetables medley was cooked exceptionally well, none of them were soggy or overcooked, and the flavors were exquisite. Finishing off with the tasty custard and raspberry desert was ideal.

After going to this great brew pub for my daughters four years in college I have to say it always impresses me. We had two large gatherings there last week for graduation... impromptu with 10+ people both time and they were able to accommodate us wonderfully and give us fantastic service and great food. Among our favorites were: Whatever beer special they are having $2.50 for a pint of Colorado beer. Score.. Gigantic pizzas.. just the thing for growing college boys Fantastic salads Fish and chips and fish tacos are a favorite BLAT Sandwich (Bacon Lettuce Avocado and Tomato) - these sustained our daughter through four years of study Huge juicy burgers Seasoned fries Add all this to a fun outside grassy knoll to sit on in lawn chair and enjoy some munchies and a frosty mug of beer. We are going to miss it.

Good things get really great at the Ale House. Yay's: -$2.50 beer of the day that rotates around their taps. -Tasty spinach artichoke dip (I prefer w/o crab, it ain't real anyway) -ANY of their Ahi Tuna dishes (1. Seared Ahi Tuna Sandwich 2. Wasabi Ahi Tuna Wrap 3. Ahi Tuna Fingers) -Green Chili (Best that's not homemade) -Brewfest during the summer months. - BEST OUTSIDE GRASSY DINING in the GeeJ (that has a stage and outside bar too). - Happy Hour Pizza (half off) from 4-6 and 10-12. - They employ my favorite bartenders in town! They remember my drinks, my name, and are great to chat with. Nay's: -No AT&T cell service inside... I don't know what the heck it is about that joint, but you are fresh out of luck if you want to make a phone call or get a text inside. (Look for me waving my phone in the air) ((like I just don't care, heyy oh!)) -Sometimes their sweet potato chips aren't really cooked very well. They can be a big hit or miss. -That's really all I got... It's pretty great. Notes: -Free wifi, just ask your server to find someone who actually remembers the password, haha. -They have TV's all over the place inside and at the bar and they are even willing to change it to another game. There are a few places that don't have it so close, for that more intimate meal. -AND if it's a busy weekend, and you want to sit outside, there is a hostess stand out there that you need to see to be seated.

I don't normally write reviews for places, but I felt the need to after continuous bad service at this bar. I go here every now and then and have noticed that unless you are friends with the bar tender it is near impossible to get a drink. I came in on a Saturday night and of course they were packed as expected. I went out to the outside bar and finally got up to the bar. I patiently waited to be served. I stood at the front of the bar for 30 minutes and not so much as got a hello from the staff. I was patient and polite and continued to wait. I got really pissed when the bar tenders (one of which was a manager) continued to look me in the eye and then ask the person behind me who they knew what they wanted. This happened at least 5 times. Then I asked my friend who knew the bar tender to come stand next to me to see who would get served first. Sure enough within 2 or 3 minutes the manager bar tending came over, looked me in the eye and then asked my friend standing next to me what he wanted. It was ridiculous. Then she said whoever bought her a shot would get service next. I'm not gonna buy this girl a shot to do her job which she is already not doing. Some guy way in the back bought her a shot and sure enough he got service. She actually reached over my head to get this guy a drink. She had obviously been asking people for shots all night because after she got someone's order she would forget what it was by the time she went to pour the drink. This happened a lot. I should know because I was there for 40 minutes without so much as an acknowledgement of existence. I finally had my friend buy me a drink cause he knew the staff and he got one for me no problem. I have visited this bar many times and got the same service. I guess if I want to drink I've got to be in with the cool kids. Just piss poor service, and after telling friends about this I guess it's not too uncommon. I understand they were super busy but not getting service for 40 minutes while people behind me and around me were getting hammered is just unacceptable. And for the lady manager to be the one doing it just tells me a lot.

We had a delicious meal here and good service. The outside looked inviting, but it was too hot this particular day. We didn't care for the ice tea, it did not taste brewed, (yes we are fussy ice tea drinkers) our waiter had no trouble with substituting our tea for a soda. We will definitely eat here again when we are passing through.

Food tasted great! Enough food bang for your buck! Many great beer options, including a Hard Cider :) my favorite. I had the small portion of Ribs. Awesome tender flavor, and the garlic mashed potatoes were yummy too. I loved them so much, I practically ate the plate too. Good vibes, pool table, bar, etc. But def nice enough of a place to bring a date because it is an actual large restaurant. Very packed, but we were seated right away. We did have to wait a bit for our waiter to become available to take our order. Next time I'm in town, this hoppin' joint will be first on my list.

I know this is a brewery, and it does have brewery fare, but I've got to say this by far has some of the best food in Grand Junction. The brewery style restaurant is actually pretty up-scale and has some nice ambiance to it. I've had the bad luck to always order something so-so. But everything my husband has ordered has always been yummy. His favorite being the jamaican pork. Very tender, seasoned well, and just savory. I've seen the outdoor seating, which looks really nice but haven't had the fortune of taking advantage of it. Definitely try this place, it shouldn't disappoint. :)

Sat at the bar. What a terrible design of a bar (the most uncomfortable bar I've ever sat at). Bartender provided a limited service and I had to wait on everything. You are better off at Kannah down the road for beers (dont eat their pizza).

Decent beer, good food, and excellent service. The mud pie dessert was fantastic. Ale House has a great outdoor patio area for relaxing with friends over a pint of beer. It loses a star because the food was slightly lower quality than I expected for the price.

I've only been out to eat to a few restaurants in Grand Junction. This town still has a lot of growing to do in it's dining selections. HOWEVER, I do have to say that my lunch at the Ale House was quite good. The house made sweet potato chips served with the sandwiches are quite good. And I was very happy with my pint of beer. They generally have many good, house brewed (tho not on the premises) draft beers. Service was good. Atmosphere is pleasant. There's plenty of elbow room. I really can't think of anything negative to say. Hunting for a decent meal in GJ? Add the Ale House to your short list.

  • Jake P.

Stopped into the Ale house for a late lunch the other day. The weather in Junction was outstanding and we were able to sit outside on the patio. Fantastic atmosphere and weather. The menu is pretty typical bar fare. I had a Cobb Salad that was fresh and delicious. The guy I was with had a Tri Tip French dip and it looked pretty good as well. There are not a lot of real great options in Grand Junction, but this one stands out above the rest by quite a large margin.

Ale-Battered Fish and Chips (fabulous fries!!)... Very very delish. AND I was able to try the cider before ordering a whole pint (AND LOVING IT!) The poblano tartar sauce was amazing. The waitress was VERY helpful. Overall, I left satisfied!

I was in GJ this past week and was NOTTTT blown away by the food. I had a half rack of ribs and they were quite tough. The waiter was pretty absent minded even though it didn't look incredibly busy. I mean, it's a good place to grab a beer and watch a game, but the food was mediocre at best. My hubs-to-be had a wrap of some kind that was truly underwhelming.

Solid brewhouse but nothing really special to report. As out-of-towner hoppy beer fans from Pacific Northwest beer backgrounds, we were underwhelmed with the IPA, red and even the pale ale. The pizza was pretty good though as were our salads. Our service wasn't too stellar and the crowd was rather boisterous, so this wasn't a four star joint.

On a recommendation, I went to the Ale House for a couple of beers and a dinner. I sat down at the bar, and waited for the bartender to greet me, offer to get me something to drink or a menu..... just the service that I would get anywhere else. After 10 minutes of being ignored, I left.

Super service! awesome patio area which they also have local bands out on! great place to hang out and have a few drinks! They have a bar out on the patio saving you from having to walk in and out all night! very clean place! Appetizers are good! Love the atmosphere! Awesome inside bar and great pool table area! Also have quieter areas for a more intimate dinner.

A very popular local watering and grazing restaurant. Lots of beers to pick from, an outstanding menu with a huge variety. The Grande Nachos are an excellent way to start your feast. The outside patio and deck are the place to enjoy Colorado sunshine or moon lit evenings. If a band call "Terry Spark and Friends" is playing move inside. They are terrible and can ruin a fun night. On Wednesday night local troubadour Jeff Pine entertains...he's fantastic. My only complaint with the outside serving area of the Ale House is that smoking is permitted in some areas. No matter where you sit the pollutants drift to the non smoking area. They should ban all smoking and then get a five star rating. Inside there are lots of TVs, an outstanding bar with great ambiance. As a side light, if you get a server named Kristen (with an E), consider yourself extremely lucky. She is an excellent server, friendly, responsive, and customer oriented. She gets five stars.

So, I had been telling my husband about the Ale House for years, since I was introduced to it a few years ago by my good friend, Jeff Pine, who sings there on Wednesday nights. We decided to use our 20th wedding anniversary to road-trip out to Grand Junction and spend the evening here with our old friend. It was every bit as good as I remembered, J. was loving the food and brews and we got to spend an evening listening to one of our favorite vocalists. It just doesn't get better than this. If you have a chance to go, definitely make it on a Wednesday night. Jeff is unbelieveably good and the food is outstanding brewery grub. I just wish we could somehow transport the Ale House and especially Jeff to Scottsdale ;-D

Nicest patio in the Grand Valley! The food is good, and it can be a fun place to have drinks. On the other hand, it can also be a meathead fest...but I spose that's true of any bar where college kids like to hang out.

Good food and even better beer. My wife also said there wine was good. My only problem was I specifically asked for a booth and they said they don't give booths to party's of 2 then after being seated we saw people who were. Even with that being said we will come back again.

Had the health platter of wings & garlic - parm fries. Wings were admirable (nice size not too much sauce) but a little heavy on the cayenne/paprika flavor (not your traditional tangy vinegar buffalo style) Laid Back Blonde to wash it all down. A real life saver when you need to eat after 10pm in GJ. appetizer & pizza only after 10. Works for me.

Nifty little brew house whose alcoholic wares we were unfortunately unable to sample due to needing to make Utah as the next stop on a road trip; nevertheless the food was outstanding (my wife had one of their salads, and I had a New York steak). The patio was wonderful, and our service attentive and snappy.

My girlfriend's bachelorette party started here last night. There were about 10 of us, with very few drinking. The waiter was wonderful, patient with separate tickets, changing orders, laughing crazy women, etc. I've been here many times and always had a great experience.

I'm giving it 4 stars for the overall experience .. 3 stars would be for the food though. It is actually pretty good now .. The food used to suck IMO, but it's been a lot better for the past 1-2 years or so ... One of the best places to grab drinks Wed-Saturday night. The patio is the best in town during late spring and summer.

I hardly ever order salads...basically never with one exception. Their southwestern chicken salad is awesome. The best I have ever had I think. Just don't go there too late to order it, the last tine I went there for it they gave me pre-cooked chicken that was rubbery and gross....only time that's ever happened.

In Grand Junction for two days on business, came here my last night to "treat" myself. Sigh... Beer is expensive and I got the 21 dollar Rib-eye. Steak wasn't grilled correctly and it wasn't seasoned at all. GARBAGE! Place is pretty nice, but seems to rely on popularity rather than quality. I recommend a place called Smuggler's Brew Pub for beer and some great wings.

  • Chris B.

I've been to the Ale House a couple of times and I've never been disappointed. The atmosphere is lively and if you're there during the summer the outdoor patio is a great place to hang out, eat, and drink a few beers. The staff has always been friendly and very helpful when recommending food or beers. My favorite meal there was the black bean burger which was loaded with delicious fillers like peppers and corn. This is one of the best black bean burgers I've had and it was fantastic coleslaw. The shaved steak sandwich was another good choice. It's served on a roll with havarti cheese and arugula. The sandwich was flavorful and rich; definitely worth trying. The jerk chicken was alright, nothing special. There are better options on the menu. The bratwurst plate with the red cabbage and garlic mashed potatoes was a perfect compliment to their beers. The meatloaf had veggies and sausage in it which I liked but some people didn't. I don't usually get dessert but I had to at the Ale House because of the mudd pie. It's loaded with toffee from Enstrom's (which is a great place to visit and load up on sweets if you have the time). The coffee ice cream matched the toffee well. If you have any room after dinner, I highly recommend this dessert. As for the beer, I'm a big fan of Breckenridge Brewery. I usually start off with the sampler which includes their seasonal. I really enjoy the ESB (extra special bitter) but that's an acquired taste and probably doesn't have the mainstream appeal. I really like the agave wheat, vanilla porter, and the lucky u IPA. They have a little of everything so you can surely find a beer that suits your taste. Although I enjoy the food, I'm definitely a bigger fan of the beer.

We went here for lunch on a Monday and I must say I was surprised to see how robust the lunch crowd was.... that's pretty much where the surprises end though. A cute atmosphere, if you like the brew pub type feeling. Our food was mediocre (I got a turkey club, manfriend got a bison burger) and the service was just fine. I wouldn't go rushing back though; I really didn't feel it was anything special.

Best summary of this place is that it's so so. Picked it as a place to eat while spending a night in Grand Junction while driving home to Arizona from Colorado. Arrived to find a nice outdoor patio to sit and enjoy dinner on, unfortunately service was very weak. Once we ordered our drinks, mine arrived in a dirty wine glass, after waiting another 10 minutes to get a new glass, that one came dirty as well, but couldn't seem to get the server to pay attention long enough to get me another glass and by now I am pretty thirsty. Finally got a completely new drink and dinner arrived. I enjoyed my sandwich, but my daughter's fish and chips were over cooked, and my son's calamari was undercooked. Struggled throughout meal to get much attention from server, so don't think that we'd go back again.

This place is great! I was in Grand Junction on business for 6 days and I ate here every night. Try the beef stroganoff, it was fantastic. Besides the food, the handcrafted beer is outstanding. Try the "Lucky U" IPA.

The Ale House in Grand Junction was a great spot to grab a couple of beers and nosh, with a group of friends. The beer is directly from Breckenridge Brewing, so you get the traditional Avalanche Amber, 471 IPA, etc, which is good. They also had a good variety of guest taps from the NW (Deschutes and Bridgeport) and Stone in North County San Diego. The food was pretty traditional pub fare, my wife had a vegetarian burrito and I had the black bean burger, which were both average. 3 stars primarily because the server dropped some attitude when we requested 'no meat' on our nachos and proceed to provide TERRIBLE service for the remainder of the night. In fact, another server came by and apologized for the poor service we received and asked if she could do anything to pacify our needs. Would definitely return for the variety of beer and extensive menu, as well as the upbeat and happening atmosphere.

Slow lunch service consisted of a flat beer and a reuben with no cabbage. The evening scene there is a loud, overpriced and overcrowded zoo. No, I'm not 75. I understand the bar is popular, but jeebus.

We like the Ale House - decent food and drink, great atmosphere especially out back on the lawn. Not digging the recent menu changes (A couple in the past few years most recent being 3/2015); The menu has undergone changes over the years and not for the better. Some higher end choices would be nice again, I can get basic bar food anywhere...

The outside patio in the summer was an awesome area. They had a band playing and lots of room to mingle. The beer is good. Lots of Colorado beer and I felt obligated to try most of them. I would definitely return.

This isn't the best brewery food I've ever had and I actually didn't try the beer until the next day at the street festival. I wasn't extremely impressed. The sweet potato chips were addictive but I felt sick after the ahi wrap and the tuna was not good quality. I don't know what I expected in the middle of Colorado. 4 stars because the menu has something for everybody and the outside area, if you can get a seat, is a relaxing way to spend a sunny afternoon.

I am a migraine sufferer I had a date at "Ale House" last week, I am not a drinker but when I do splurge I ordered a Grey Goose vodka and cranberry juice cocktail (because cheap vodka triggers intense migraines for me, its serious!) I had one drink and after I finished it I had to rush home cutting my date short due to my intense headache. This is no mistake, my head is the perfect barometer for places that serve cheap vodka and charge you for the good stuff! I have never gotten a headache from Grey Goose, thats why I dont mind always paying so much more for it!, it not only ruined my date but I was in bed with a migraine the next day, this is a huge blunder on their part, I'm sure they thought no one would know the difference, I'll never go back and I'm telling all my friends the same thing. Ive had migraines for 30 yrs, I paid the price twice because of Ale House!!!! Huge Blunder, HUGE!!!
